After sold-out performances at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation and an enthusiastic reception from both young and old audiences, Rossiniada, the musical fairy tale conceived and directed by Chloé Mantzari, which introduces children to the magical world of opera in the most imaginative way, returns to a new, larger venue due to increased demand. Starting Sunday, February 9, at the Poreia Theatre.
Period costumes, fascinating sets, videos, art, imaginary choreographies, acrobatics and funny dialogues make up the performance, which has been designed to help the young audience appreciate and enjoy opera, overturning the common perception that opera is boring or difficult to understand.
Rossiniada introduces children to the work of Gioachino Rossini, one of the greatest opera composers, in a creative and imaginative way.
The show features some of the most beautiful arias and music from Rossini’s works “The Barber of Seville”, “Cinderella”, “William Tell” and “The Italian Girl in Algiers” as well as popular children’s songs such as the “Comic Duet for Two Cats”, performed live by talented opera singers accompanied by the piano.
The performance was presented at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation from October 13 to December 29, 2024.
A production of the cultural organization Lykofos. Co-produced by Poreia Theatre.
